Lost amid the hubbub raised over the firing of the Bullets head coach was the fact that, on that same day, CWebb was named to the Eastern Conference All Star team. He will be replacing New York Knicks center Patrick Ewing, who will be resting a groin injury that weekend. As Washington Post sports columnist Michael Wilbon has previously pointed out, he deserves it.
I'm not without my doubts about whether CWebb would play, considering his severely sprained ankle that he suffered in Monday's game against Utah. That injury forced him to sit out the next game (prior to the All Star break). But, as of Friday afternoon, a replacement for Webber had not been named, so it's likely that Webber will suit up for the All Star Game.
Look for him. With only one healthy center left on the Eastern Conference All Star roster (Dikembe Mutombo), look for Webber and Milwaukee Bucks forward Vin Baker to play a lot of time in the pivot.
