Brent Price Suffers Another Serious Injury

Normally, I would not dwell on news about former Bullets players, but Brent Price is a special case. In part because he was a favorite of a lot of fans for his effort, and in part because he's unfortunately suffered numerous injuries in his career. Tuesday night was no different.

Brent Price collided knees with Los Angeles Lakers point guard Nick van Exel midway through the second quarter. There was no overt attempt to hurt Brent, just an accidental collision as Brent was bringing the ball up in transition. They collide knees, and Brent goes down holding his knee.

Torn ACL, right knee. Gone for the season.

Brent signed a 5-year deal this off-season with the Rockets, but it's been a series of injuries for him. He sprained his right knee in training camp, then broke his left elbow in a preseason game. Now this.

At least he knows what to expect. He tore his left ACL before the 1995-96 season and sat out that entire season. It's unclear how long Brent will be out with this injury, but it's strongly possible that he will not be ready to start the regular season in November. In the meantime, let's wish Brent a speedy and successful recovery from his current injury.
