Bullets Face Big Game #1 In Quest For Playoff Spot

In reality, every game from here on out is a big game. But this game marks the start of the Bullets march to the playoffs. With 11 games remaining, they are 1 game out of the playoff hunt.

What makes this more important is that one game behind them is the Indiana Pacers, tonight's opponent.

Unfortunately, this is no April Fool's joke. The Bullets are fighting for their playoff lives, and the team they are doing it against is a playoff veteran bunch. But the Pacers have struggled all year, and the Bullets stand a good chance to win. Just on Sunday, the Pacers needed overtime to handle the L.A. Clippers at home.

The Bullets realize the stakes of tonight's game, as Washington Post sports reporter J.A. Adande points out. The intensity of tonight's game (to be shown locally, in the DC area, on WB-50) should be evident from the tipoff.

The pressure is on. Washington Post sports columnist Tony Kornheiser gives the matchup a remarkably serious (for him) perusal today. It's everything he says, and more. The pressure is on. Will the Bullets hit the target, or are they merely blanks?
