Tracy Murray To Get Surgery On Shooting Wrist

This may help explain a few things about last season and Tracy Murray's relatively poor shooting, especially at the beginning of the season. It turns out that the torn ligaments in the wrist on his shooting hand that he suffered in the preseason bothered him all season. He was only able to adjust to the problems toward the end of the season, when we finally saw Tracy's contributions and output increase.

Now, Tracy is getting surgery on his wrist. He was scheduled to go in for surgery in his native Los Angeles on Tuesday, June 3. He should be in a cast for a couple of months, then rehabbed in time for training camp to start.

All I can say is that if the surgery and rehabilitation of the wrist is successful, then he will be a very formidible opponent, shooting and scoring like he did in 1995-96. If so, he'll be one of the best (if not the best) sixth man in the league. And he might yet push a renewed Calbert Cheaney for that starting shooting guard position.
