25 January 1997. Washington Bullets 113, Sacramento Kings 105 (record: 21-21)
Game leaders: Webber (27 points), Howard (13 rebounds), Strickland (9 assists)
Mitch Richmond smoked the Bullets in this game for 38 points, but he didn't get an exceeding amount of support from his teammates. The Bullets, on the other hand, defended their homecourt advantage well and got well balanced support across the board. All 5 starters were in double figures (3 were over 20 points), and Tracy Murray provided 12 points off the bench.
In this game, the Bullets became the aggressors. They weren't outrebounded for the first time in a while (I don't know the exact count). They got to the foul line frequently: 34 times (with 24 made). They overcame a 2-point halftime deficit to put away the Kings. The key was a 12-0 run in the middle of the fourth quarter when the Kings had narrowed the deficit to one point. The Kings could get no closer than 6 points the rest of the game.
However, we still have not seen Tim Legler for a game, and this is a little surprising to me. I would have expected him to be ready to play by now. However, it's looking more likely that Lorenzo Williams, whose knee continues to bother him, to go on injured reserve when Legler is activated.
